One Log, 4 projects!

img_3554-1I have had a log sitting on my porch for probably over 5 months. We were sapose to make a swing out of it but that just never happened so recently we decided to make something else out of the log. And that something else became 4 projects!

Project 1:

Log coasters

All you need is

  • A log
  • Miter saw
  • Polyurethane

It’s as simple as it looks. You just cut slices until you’ve got the desired amount you want. Mine was 6. After you have them all cut you sand them and thenjust dip them in polyurethane and let them set. After there dry there ready for use.

Project 2:

Candle log holders

All you need is:

  • A log
  • Miter saw
  • Drill
  • Forstner bit 3 1/8
  • Candles

This ones just as simple. I wanted three candle holder but all different heights. So I just got them cut at all different heights. Once they were cut we just drilled with the forstner bit to the desired depth a whole for the candles. After that was just some sanding and it’s done!

Project 3:

Log t-light holder

All you need is:

  • A log
  • Mitersaw
  • Forstner bit 3 1/8
  • Stain (optional)
  • File
  • Drill

For this candle Holder I just made a larger cut and then cut that piece in half. Once it was cut in half I had two pieces that lay flat that could now be drilled in. I then decided how many candle I wanted to place in each piece and drilled. I decided on three because of the size. But yours can be more or less!  Once that’s done your candles might not completely sit in the whole, which is were the file comes in. You’ll just need to file the sides of the whole till the candle fits. Once that’s done you sand and if you’d like stain. I stained one with gray and the other I’m keeping natural. And then your done!

And Project 4:

The final project a Log Lamp that is currently still under construction! (:
